Vaping Tips

So you’re thinking about making the switch from smoking to vaping! The world of vaping is vast and can be intimidating for those just starting out. We want to help you make your transition as smooth as possible. Listed below are some useful vaping tips for new vapers:

Don’t expect vaping to be like smoking. Vaping is a GREAT alternative to smoking, but it is different. Cigarette smoke is light, whereas, e-cig vapor is heavier. Instead of a quick draw that you may be used to from a regular tobacco cigarette, you should take a long, slow draw from an electronic cigarette. Take the time to enjoy the flavor of the inhale and exhale.

Buy only from reputable vape shops. Excellent vape shops will take the time to show you all aspects of your new e-cig. They should explain how to turn it off and on, how to replace your atomizer coils, and how to maintenance your e-cig. If you have questions about vaping or your new device, do not be afraid to ask.

Buy an extra set of batteries. If your batteries run out of charge, you don’t want to be tempted to pick up a cigarette.

Store batteries properly. You should always keep your e-cig batteries in a case. NEVER put exposed batteries in your pocket. They will connect with your change and other metal objects and will heat up in a hurry!

Always be respectful of others nearby. Do not blow vapor in the direction of others. Comply with your local laws and regulations regarding e-cigarette use.

Soak your atomizer coils. When changing your atomizer coils, avoid horrible tasting, harsh dry hits by soaking your coils properly. For best practice, we recommend you cut a 10ml bottle in half, pour eliquid into the bottle, drop in your coil and let it soak for a few hours. Pick up the atomizer coil and gently blow out the excess eliquid into a paper towel. Your atomizer coil is now ready!

Clean your e-cigarette thoroughly. Use a dry cloth or paper towel to wipe your e-cig clean. Use q-tips to gently clean your spring-loaded pins (this is where your screw your tank into your e-cig).

Purchase the correct VG/PG ratio eliquid for your tank. Standard tanks (not sub ohm) work well with a higher ratio of PG (Propylene Glycol) while sub ohm tanks work best with a higher ratio of VG (Vegetable Glycerin). High PG eliquid provides a more intense throat hit and slightly less flavor. It should be used with atomizer coils above 1 ohm. High VG eliquid provides a more subtle throat hit, great flavor, and more clouds. It is noticeably thicker than PG eliquid. Those that might have an allergy or be sensitive to PG liquid, should use VG liquid. The market trend currently is going more towards sub ohm tanks and high VG eliquid.

Purchase the correct nicotine level for your eliquid. High nicotine levels (18 to 24 mg) are generally for smaller e-cig devices that use standard tanks (not sub ohm). Whereas, low nicotine levels (0 to 6 mg) are generally for sub ohm tanks. Sub ohm tanks use more eliquid because they vaporize the eliquid quicker and the user gets more vapor. The most popular nicotine level for sub ohm tanks is currently 3 mg.

New vapers may cough for a few days. It’s nothing to worry about. Your body is recovering from being a smoker. Simply put, the cilia (hairs) are falling off with the tar that your body is rejecting. They will grow back, but until they do your throat and lungs will be sensitive. Drink water to help.

HB2097 Threatens Oklahoma Vapor Products

HB2097 Threatens Oklahoma Vapor Products
Please Act Now!!!

Even though the House Public Health committee rejected
the language of SB 802, it was reintroduced as amendment
to HB 2097, and passed by the Senate less than 24 hours
later, giving Oklahoma electronic cigarette users very little
time to contact their legislators.

We support the ban on the sale of vapor products to minors,
but this bill does much more and would hurt an industry that
is helping thousands of Oklahomans quit smoking.

* Contrary to assertions by the amendments sponsor, the
bill, as amended, would increase taxes on Oklahoma ecigarette
users who don't use disposable models

* Required licensing would increase the cost of e-cigarette
products and lead to the unavailabity of hundreds or
thousands of products

* The bill would make it a criminal act for an e-cigarette user
to buy online without having a license, which would severely
limit access for Oklahomans living in rural areas

*The poor wording and unclear definitions would make
compliance extremely difficult

This bill is being heavily supported by RJ Reynolds and
Lorillard, two of the largest tobacco companies. By forcing
vapor product vendors to be licensed as tobacco retailers
and operate through tobacco channels this bill would give a
definite advantage to tobacco companies that carry
disposable e-cigarettes.

We urge lawmakers to look carefully at the implications of
this bill. We urge voters to contact their representatives and
ask them not to let the tobacco lobbyists convince them to
pass legislation that is bad for Oklahoma small business and
bad for Oklahoma public health.

Smoking Cessation Devices vs. Electronic Cigarettes

We all know that cigarettes are harmful for many reasons: Obvious health concerns, financial impact, harmful secondhand smoke, and they make everything you own smell like an ashtray are among the top reasons. However, kicking a smoking habit is extremely difficult to do. Just ask any smoker. Most smokers have made numerous attempts over their lifespan to drop the habit. While a few people are successful, the majority fail miserably.

From magnetic therapy to nicotine patches to drug therapy, several companies boast that their smoking cessation products are the best on the market. They spend millions of dollars on advertisements to try to convince you that their products will "cure" your smoking addiction. Many consumers try at least a few of these products with the hope to quit tobacco altogether.

In my desire to educate consumers who would like to quit or find another alternative, I've perused over several smoking cessation studies in order to analyze the data and come to a conclusion on which smoking cessation products are best. In my research, I'll show you which ones are successful and which ones are flops.

So what method has the greatest success rate? Below is the chart where I gathered my information from multiple studies from the United States and abroad to find out the answer to that question.

Although electronic cigarettes (e-cigs) are considered an "alternative to smoking" and are not considered smoking cessation devices according to the FDA, their success rate is approximately 32%. Most of the other two-thirds percentage reportedly cut back on their smoking habit. As e-cigs have been made even better recently using the latest technology, the success rate has climbed even higher. Some studies have even suggested success rates as high as 85%.

I believe the major reason that e-cigs are more effective than smoking cessation devices is the fact that the user still gets the pleasure of "feeling" like they are smoking. The satisfaction of inhaling and exhaling while still getting the desired nicotine provides for the optimal result. Some e-cig users decrease the nicotine level in their e-cigs over time to finally quit, while others continue "smoking" their e-cigs. Several doctors believe that e-cigs are a "better" alternative to smoking traditional tobacco cigarettes. However, many consumers are still waiting for the FDA to provide more testing. Since e-cigs are fairly new to the market, long term test results will likely be a few more years away.

Electronic cigarettes have raised controversy among states like New York who have considered banning them altogether. However since new findings have reported much higher success rates for e-cigs compared to that of smoking cessation devices, several people are taking notice. Many doctors and authors have stated that banning e-cigs would likely harm public health given the success rate for smoking cessation found in the study of e-cigs. Another study has found that there is a growing significant public interest in electronic cigarettes which are by far the most popular smoking alternative.

So there you have it...which method will you choose?
